I too believe that too much emphasis has been placed on testing. The article does an adequate job of describing efforts that should be made for future students. I do agree that motivation starts before high school. More parent involvement is also key. The article mentions some programs to prepare students for the workplace of the 21st century. Students definitely need to see relevance in the courses that they are taking. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Why do we have to learn this?" Maybe more career training is the direction we should head with a partnership with the businesses that will soon need these students and their expertise.

Cheryl and Steve Chancelor, share a commitment to the education of all children. Cheryl has worked with elementary students both as a classroom teacher and as a Reading Specialist. Steve teaches Advanced Placement courses at the High School level. Steve and Cheryl enjoy offering their unique perspective and experience to families through development of educational plans that best meet the individual needs of each student and providing the highest trained and qualified educators to the tutorial environment. The opportunity to support their community by working with teachers, parents and students on a more personal level has proven to be one of the best decisions they have made.
