Dec 20 | Applying for a Scholarship

Prime Minister Winston Churchill visited his old school, Harrow School, on October 29, 1941. He wanted to hear the old songs that he enjoyed while attending the school. The School, however, wanted to hear Churchill speak. He reluctantly approached the podium and said:  “Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up.”

Dr. Robert Beard, also known as Dr. Goodword at alphadictionary.com, recently published the 100 Funniest Words In English based on their pronunciation, usage, history and meaning. Not only does he define the words but offers several creative examples of usage. This is a fantastic book for high school students preparing for college admissions. It can help them to appreciate language, prepare them for the odd words that could appear on the SAT/ACT and give them great words to work into their college and scholarship essays. Mar 24 | Is a liberal arts education a luxury?

There is an opinion war raging in the educational field these days and the generals are surprisingly two former college dropouts; technological and entrepreneurial geniuses, Bill Gates of Microsoft and Steve Jobs of Apple.

On the one hand, Gates seems to hold the view that the investment of funds in a college education demands a field of study emphasis on work-related learning...on study of specific fields and skills that are demanded in the workplace today. Gates seems to hold the idea that technology is an end in itself. He has proposed using technology already available to analyze and decode the education system with an eye toward improving its productivity as one might improve the productivity of an assembly line.

Meet Kellye Ambler | Owner

Kellye Ambler graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Journalism and Marketing. She has been in the education field since 2001; teaching Pre-Kindergarten and as an Assistant Director at an NAEYC accredited private preschool. For the past three years she has been a substitute teacher in her local school district, teaching mainly at the elementary level in the Special Education department.
