Great Local Achievements

Oct 27 | Great Local Achievements

Congratulations goes out to both the Dallas ISD and the Highland Park ISD!!

Two Dallas ISD schools have received the U.S. Department of Education's coveted Blue Ribbon Award. H.S. Thompson Learning Center and James B. Bonham Elementary School were awarded the 2010 Blue Ribbon Schools Award. This national award honors both private and public schools that have achieved academic excellence or made significant progress in closing the achievement gap. The H.S. Thompson Learning Center and James B. Bonham Elementary School are among only 25 schools in Texas named as Blue Ribbon Schools this year. Horray!!

Congratulations also goes out to the Highland Park ISD. Highland Park High School has had 30 seniors named as commended students in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program. These awesome students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2011 competition by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Highland Park High School is also proud to announce four HPHS students who have been named as Hispanic Scholars by the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program. This program identifies nearly 5,000 of the highest-scoring students from a nationwide total of more than 200,000 high school juniors in the United States and U.S. Territories who take the PSAT/NMSQT and designate themselves as Hispanic/Latino.

Way to go Highland Park High School!!
