« TAKS Testing for Special Needs Children :: Exit Exams Won't Show Students True Skills »The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program teaches children in pre-K through third grade four important steps to take if they find a gun. These steps are presented by the program's mascot, Eddie Eagle®, in an easy-to-remember format consisting of the following simple rules: If you see a gun: STOP! Don't Touch. Leave the Area. Tell an Adult. Seems simple enough! But parents across the nation are debating this program and if it should be allowed in schools. Guns are dangerous and kids need to know it.
Follow up:
Bringing a program such of this into the schools is much like the fire department teaching kids to: STOP! DROP! AND ROLL! Do you remember "Give A Hoot Don't Pollute" well the adorable little owl brought environmental concerns to the minds of little ones everywhere...and this company took it to the air waves .... Eddie Eagle follows in their footsteps by creating an adorable bird much like the messages developed by the owl....kids will remember it... cartoon messages can be affective. Seems simple enough! Teach our kids to be safe. The debate is over IF this program should be allowed in school during school hours.... if that is the issue then take it to the community public events or have the PTA bring the program in during evening school events....but teach our kids gun safety! We need to keep our kids safe and guns are a real part of their communities.
