Thank you for helping Mathew with ACT Prep

Jul 03 | Thank you for helping Mathew with ACT Prep

Creative Tutors had an opportunity to work with a local student to help him prepare quickly for the ACT. He was nervous about taking the test and his mom was too. Some quick background information....Mathew had been a student that was homeschooled for part of his education; attended a small private school; and then by high school returned to public school. He has had some learning challenges along the way and the family had worked to address these challenges. They came to Creative Tutors to ask for test prep. Time was limited as the test was only a few days away. There was only time for four hours to prepare. We helped settled his nervous by reviewing his most challenging area and explaining to him how to master the test taking experience.

Follow up:

Hi Jan:

Mathew received his ACT scores yesterday. He got a 20, which is in the range of what UNT accepts. At the end of his Junior year, Mathew was in the top 10 percent of his class, so receives automatic acceptance anyway, so in a sense, what the test score was...was irrelevant. He needed the test for admission, though, and I'm glad to see that, based on his scores, he is expected to do very well in college. I think it really helped raise his confidence level (and mine) to see that he could do so well on the ACT.

It is impossible to know how the test would have gone had Mathew not had the tutoring. I do know he felt much more comfortable knowing how to take the test, and he actually got his very best score in writing. That is ironic because he entered 7th grade at a second grade writing level with a certified disability in writing! He has worked hard and earned an A in AP English last year. Daniel worked with him on the writing portion, and helped him be prepared with tools to do the essay more easily. I believe that helped a lot.

From a parent's perspective I really appreciated receiving the session reports. It helped me know what Mathew and Daniel went over.

Jan, I'm very happy with my experience with Creative Tutors and glad to experience it firsthand. It helps with my understanding of your business and in my ability to refer your services to others. Thank you for working with me to bring this tutoring to Mathew. As a parent I feel like I have done everything I could to help him succeed.

I hope you have a very happy July 4th.

Ashley B.
