Lessons in Math Shape Many Life Skills
Creative Tutors honors Mathematics Education Month; stresses the importance arithmetic plays in a child's future.

From paying bills to cooking dinner, many day-to-day tasks require the use of basic math skills. However, for many children, arithmetic is associated solely with pencils and textbooks. That's why this April, Creative Tutors is honoring Mathematics Education Month. The local tutoring service wants parents and students to understand that the lessons of mathematics extend far beyond the classroom.

"Children study many subjects in school, but math is one discipline that they will continually incorporate throughout their lives," said Jan Van Blarcum, Founder of Creative Tutors. "If a child is struggling in math, it should not be ignored because the consequences can have long-reaching effects."

Follow up:

In fact, according to the Child Trends DataBank, http://www.childtrendsdatabank.org, "young people who transition to adulthood with limited mathematics skills are likely to find it difficult to function in society." With basic arithmetic skills required for everyday computations and even for job applications, "competence in mathematics skills is related to higher levels of employability."

"Efficiency in math is proving to have direct links to a greater realm of opportunity and development for children," said David Pulsipher, Manager of Creative Tutors in McKinney, TX. "By becoming more involved in the learning process and even recruiting outside resources, parents will be making a sound investment in their child's future."

Based on the belief that every child represents the next generation of the community, Creative Tutors offers tutoring services to children of all ages and learning levels. The company's expert tutors are certified to teach all subject areas including mathematics, language arts, foreign languages, social studies, science and history. Services are available seven days a week so families can choose a schedule that is most convenient for them.
