Dark Energy and our universe and our kids?

Mar 06 | Dark Energy and our universe and our kids?

About 10 years ago cosmologists made a discovery that shook up the science world. They found what was called "Dark Energy" in our universe. The TV news announced a blurb about it...I recall... and then our lives moved on .... http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/space-study-sheds-light-on-dark-energy.html

Ten years later and it is now 2009....In the February 2009 Astronomy Magazine another article about dark energy and our universe caught my attention. http://www.astronomy.com/asy/default.aspx?c=i&id=465

At first I wondered....What did Albert Einstein know about this? So with my trusty computer and Google I began my search for more information....and I found the website that answered my question....
http://hubblesite.org/hubble_discoveries/dark_energy/de-did_einstein_predict.php ...Once Einstein knew the universe was expanding, he discarded the cosmological constant as an unnecessary fudge factor. He later called it the "biggest blunder of his life," according to his fellow physicist George Gamow. Today astronomers refer to one theory of dark energy as Einstein's cosmological

constant. The theory says that dark energy has been steady and constant throughout time and will remain that way. ....Read More about it you will find it interesting....http://hubblesite.org/hubble_discoveries/dark_energy/de-did_einstein_predict.php

What does all of this have to do with kids? It occurred to me that this "Dark Energy" term applies to our children today. In a different way. Our children are busy growing up and all the baggage that comes with school, sports, community involvement, peer pressure, speed of information through technology growth….and more…. They seek from their support system their path and how to actually do this thing called "growing up" and some children do it with ease and without faltering. Then there are the kiddos that have no direction, not a clue as what they will become and that frightens them. I believe it must feel like "Dark Energy" to them. Growing up feels like something unknown and with such force that it cannot be stopped…. These children are speaking out to their families, counselors, school teachers and yes to their tutors. Kids are speaking and reaching out to their support systems …but have they been heard? I have to say that Creative Tutors strives to listen to these children. One awesome example is one student from our McKinney, Texas area. The student that wrote our blog message “I Hate Homework” http://www.creativetutors.com/b2evo/blog1.php?s=I+Hate+Homework&sentence=AND found that his tutor and parents listened and we stopped the madness together and rebalanced his life and his school. Another happy productive student and family was restored. We strive to reach as many students as we can. Our job has an awesome burden of responsibility that we all embrace and thrive on….but we realize we can’t reach every student. My message today, long… is simple. Take a moment and listen to what children are actually saying with words or their silent actions. Please listen. Help remove the “Dark Energy” from their life and help them find their path. Make a purposeful decision to remove the clutter of noise and speed of information…silence your cell phone, close your computer screens ….. when you are with children. Stop what you are doing Look the child in the eye and Listen to what they say with their words and their silent actions. Be a part of helping our world become a better and safer place for our children. Reach out in your community and change it! Help the children become who they should become. “Growing up is hard to do…” but it is constent and don't let this be your "biggist blunder of your life."

....."The universe that was born in a violent expansion could end with an even more violent expansion called the Big Rip...."About 10 years ago cosmologists made a discovery that shook up the science world. They found what was called "Dark Energy" in our universe. The TV news announced a blurb about it...I recall... and then our lives moved on .... http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/space-study-sheds-light-on-dark-energy.html
