« Obama pledges schools upgrade in stimulus plan :: Standardized Test Stress »In reading an article from USA Today published in 2006 http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2006-11-02-collegerates_x.htm about how many students apply to college and how many actually get accepted made my heart skip a beat of concern for our soon to be graduating students. Possibly students that need to be in the advanced educational environment will not find the resources to assist them in getting to the College Classroom.

With our current economic conditions and parents losing their jobs creates the environment that students that had families planning on paying for college will not have the ability to fund the college education and thus more students applying for scholarships. With scholarships on high demand and more students applying for those scholarships today how will it impact the application rates and acceptance rates to the colleges across our country?
There are options that parents need to understand which will give your child an edge on college acceptance. Talk to your school counselor to see if your child can participate in Honors classes, Advanced Placement (AP) http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/about.html International(IB) http://www.ibo.org/
A student wrote on his blog about Honors classes and when a school does not offer advanced placement. His message is clear and has been a strategy for students already for years. Why not take Dual Enrollment classes and graduate from High School with college credit?
