Standardized Test Stress

Jan 22 | Standardized Test Stress

I spoke with an exhausted school teacher this evening. She had spent the entire day working with her class to prepare them for the upcoming TAKS test. This prep time is directed by the school district and the teacher has no choice in the matter. I am not sure but the teacher may be more exhausted than her students were by end of day today! After all

standardized test scores are on the minds of the independent school district administrators and the pressure has been piled high on the district teachers...landing on the shoulders of the classroom teacher....after all it is accepted as part of the chain! Test performance drives administration to hyper focus on their accountability....public school performance...tax payers dollars....thus many students become overstressed and develop high tension and anxiety which in turn creates a paralyzing environment for the student as their daily grades drop, missed homework assignments pile up and loss of motivation fills their spirit. Parents feel stressed as they witness their child through this awful time frame. There are things that you can do to help your child prepare for test taking events. Simple things. Help your child keep their schedule and routine. Well hydrated, healthy food, plenty of rest and certainly focus on fun activities that help your child get the much needed mental break they need. Fresh air, exercise and most of all never wait until the last minute to "Cram" for the test. If you recognize that your child is undergoing this stress you may want to seek professional help with Creative Tutors. Our ability to help remove the stress from the student and help them prepare under better conditions goes miles... and if you recognize your child could be in jeopardy of low performance or failing scores~ start early and we can help. It can be amazing to witness the results your tutor and child can have with a little time to prepare for tests, end of year exams, standardized exams...and the like. There is no need for any child to experience extreme levels of test prep....it won't benefit anyone involved but mostly it won't benefit the child.... and then how does this affect the child year after year? At what point does it become unbearable?
