Too Much Summertime TV??

Jul 06 | Too Much Summertime TV??

Once again I find myself a little perturbed at my children because it is 3 in the afternoon and all they have done today is watch TV. There are so many other things that they could and need to be doing that will help them become better people, yet the TV just sucks them in for hours and hours at a time. It doesn't matter if they have seen the show already 10 times. They may have missed that one line I guess. So, since I have now finished the lawn and eaten a bit of lunch, fed the baby, and am now able to help them do something more productive they respond with disbelief that I am asking them to turn the TV off and do something else.

Follow up:

My son needs to earn his Webelos badge by October and my daughter is trying to memorize the Articles of Faith. They always tell me that I never help them, yet here I am ready to help them and they get upset with me and don't want to do it. I guess it is not a convenient time for them. So, I went on the internet and found this article on watching TV. My initial thoughts were that too much TV is not good for you, leads to obesity, lack of motivation or laziness, and does not help them a whole lot. The article backs up some of my thoughts and provides more for me to think about as I contemplate getting rid of the TV. I am so sick of fighting with them over turning the TV off. I am thinking the best thing to do is to just get rid of it altogether.
